Decaf
Decaf gets a bad wrap. But here’s the thing, if you love coffee, decaf can be a great thing. We drink a lot of coffee over here at Big E, all day. If you feel like a hot drink in the afternoon or evening and you are on Team Lasso when it comes to tea, then coffee is your best option. And if you want to go to bed at night, Decaf is your only option. Or if you love the taste of coffee but caffeine isn’t great for you, then it’s a good idea to start investing in decaf. If you like the taste of coffee then why not decaf?
How do you take your tea? “Well, usually I take it right back to the counter, because someone’s made a horrible mistake.”
Ted Lasso
Decaf can be terrible. But it can be great. There are a bunch of different methods to removing the caffeine from coffee beans and you can watch the video below if you really want to get nerdy. But if you just want to know how to drink really great decaf here are the highlights. The key to great decaf is…
- Fresh Beans!! This is the most critical factor. Decaf coffee is more porous and loses it’s flavor much faster than regular. If you want to drink decaf that tastes good keep it fresh!
- Well-roasted beans. It isn’t that important how the beans were decaffeinated. However, the roaster must know how to roast decaf, it is a little more nuanced.
- You gotta grind it fresh. Sorry, I know some of you don’t like to grind your own. But it is going to make it or break it in this situation.
We can solve two of these three issues. We roast on a weekly basis. That means you can make sure that the coffee you are drinking is never more than 7 days old. And we deliver it to your door! We also know what we’re doing. We start with quality beans and we roast all of our beans to maximize flavor. We have two different decaf varieties. Sue-Sue is our dark roast and Lights of Love Decaf is a medium-light roast. Both are full of flavor and not full of caffeine. Give them a try. If you are looking for something with some caffeine but not as much try Middle School Mustache, it is a 50/50 blend of Lumberjack and Sue-Sue
Now if you need a grinder, we don’t sell those but we can recommend some.
